BIG EYES FAMILY PLAYERS
‘This is music which could have been recorded at any time. The Band have worked really well to create something otherwordly and different.’ SIC MAGAZINE
The Big Eyes Family Players are a Sheffield based collective who have been creating music for a decade and a half. The only constant in the group is songwriter and guitarist James Green, who has meandered and tinkered through this passage of time collaborating with the good and the great – including James Yorkston, Alasdair Roberts, Mary Hampton and Nancy Elizabeth – leaving a pantheon of seven studio albums in his wake.
The current five-piece line-up – featuring the atmospheric vocal prowess of Heather Ditch – is as close to a settled band as the ‘family players’ has been. Their 2016 album ‘Oh!’ is a rich musical tapestry where the focus has been on creating original songs, rather than the reinterpretations hallmarking Big Eyes’ earlier work – with James writing the music, Heather the words. It was produced with panache by Dean Honer (Moonlandingz / Eccentronic Research Council).
